India won their 3rd consecutive Kabaddi World Cup held in Ahmedabad in October 2016.

  • In the final India produced a terrific second half performance to overturn a first half deficit and defeated a spirited Iran 38-29 to win their third consecutive World Cup title at the Trans Stadia Arena, Ahmedabad. 
    Deepak Niwas Hooda (b. 1994) is an specialised raider for the Indian national team. He made his debut for the national team at the 2016 South Asian Games where his team won the gold medal. Manjeet Chillar (b. 1986) currently leads the Puneri Paltan team in the PKL (Pro Kabaddi League). Manjeet is one of the best all-rounders in world kabaddi. He is also the most expensive player in Pro Kabaddi League. He played a total of 47 matches in PKL with 183 raid points and 151 points as a defender with 145 successful tackles to his credit.
